Dhoni’s Brand Value
MUMBAI: Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s brand value is set to take a beating post his sudden announcement to step down as captain of the limited overs cricket format.

Being the quintessential small-town boy, who had beaten all odds to reach the top, this ‘Captain Cool’ has been the darling of the brands given his calm demeanour, pan-India recognition, and brand attributes like dashing, handsome looks and an extremely affable manner.

While he continued to charge between Rs 8 crore and Rs 12 crore for endorsements, which took his total annual earnings to anything between Rs 120 crore and Rs 150 crore, this is set to change after he gives up the skipper’s job in limited overs cricket, both 50 overs and T20. As per Forbes’ annual Fab 40 list for 2016, Dhoni’s brand value had reduced from $21 million in 2015 to $11 million in 2016, and his rank slipped from 5 to 10 during the same period. However, he remained the only Indian among the top 10 athletes globally.

Also now he is the brand Ambassador of Dream11 - the 1st Cricket fantasy league of India
